    Friendship Changes

This update brings some changes to Friendships in order to improve how you connect and interact with other players, as well as some quality of life improvements to Friend Gems. If you want to read more about it, please check out our Developer Blog post!

    • The Proximity Chat is now unlocked at Friendship lvl 1, instead of lvl 3. Now you can unlock proximity chat by introducing yourself to other players.
    • The open chat with other members of the same fluffalo train ride and sit & chat will remain unchanged.

Reminder: If you ever find someone acting against our Community Rules and Guidelines, please follow the guide on how to Mute, Block and Report other players here.

    Friendship Gems

    • We have added more ways to get Friend Gem: now you’ll also be able to earn them from co-op harvesting and participating in World Events together. Now, you get:
      • 10 automatically every day
      • in co-op harvesting: 2 for small harvestables; 3 for medium harvestables; 4 for large harvestables
      • For certain World Events: 2 for Yearning for the Mines and Fluffalo Parade, 4 for Dance Party, Rudi’s Boss, and Gifting Trees.
      • 1 friend gem per harvested resource (excluding the harvestables that give co-op loot)
    • The current cap of earnable Friend Gems in a day is still the same: 50
    • We’re also removing the friendship gem offering cap. You can interact with your friends and offer them as many Friendship Gems as you’d like to level up in a single day
    • We have increased the value of Tier 2 and Tier 3 offerings, as they will reduce the number of gifts you have to give to a friend to reach a certain level.
    • We changed the Friend Gems art! 🩷

    Waystation Goals

    • Introducing the Waystation Bounties – community individual objectives you can complete to advance goals and to help maintain your waystation. They will show whatever your waystation needs and set it up as a goal to complete together.
    • Bounties will give a small reward on completion to the person who did it, but once a Goal is complete, everyone in the Waystation can redeem its reward!
    • You can find the Bounties in the nested top-left menu or track them in your Quest Log
      • This UI is a first iteration and will likely evolve in future updates of the game

    Equipment Progression ⚒️

As we mentioned in our Developer Blog last week, we’re revamping how Equipment are upgraded and enhanced as of this update.

    • We’re implementing a new system to upgrade your tool and new tiers of progression:
      Basic ➡️ Fine ➡️ Superior ➡️ Exquisite
    • You can upgrade your tools by gathering equipment-specific Expertise through harvesting. When you have enough Expertise, you’ll see a “Enhance Equipment” marker. This means it’s ready to update, and you can level up their tier in a Forge!
      • You can then apply a Trusty or Lucky enhancement to a tool after it has been upgraded to the Exquisite tier
      • When the Trusty / Lucky tool enhancement durability runs out, your equipment will regress back to their Exquisite variant, not all the way back to Basic, so don’t worry about that!
      • Higher tier tools can harvest better resources – you’ll see a “Better with Superior Axe” prompt whenever you could get better rewards
    • Amano added a Forge at his camp to make it easier to upgrade tools that you can use for convenience when exploring the wilderness!
    • Unfortunately, this means that your current Axe, Machete, Pickaxe, Shears and Shovel will be set to the first equipment progression step (Basic), and any Trusty/Lucky enhancements will also be lost. We want to do this now, while the game is still in Alpha, and our population is relatively small.
    • These changes won’t affect the Fishing Rods and Scrub Brushes for now – we’re still working on some technical specifications and balancing around those tools, so these adjustments will come for them in a future update. We’ll keep you posted!

    Quests and Activities

    • We have added new Rank 5 Friendship Quests for Candlewic, Nibbit and Joule
    • New Foot Race tournament
      • On your marks: The new Foot Race tournament is kicking off in the wilderness – race against others to learn who is the fastest wanderer of the Crosslands – and get rewards!
      • Want to build your own? During the event, the Race Starting Gate, Race Checkpoints and Race Finish Line items will be sold in a Vending Machine next to the Finish Line in the Wilderness so you can buy and set up a full customizable track course in your waystation!
      • Right now, there are no timers – but we plan to implement them in the future so you can check and work on beating your PB!
    • New Timed Dance Party
      • The Spirits want to PARTYYYY so DJ Fuzz EE is holding a secret warehouse rave 🥳
      • Every hour, on the 30 minute mark, a new party starts and you can ask others to join or play music to fill up the party meter
      • (You’re all special guests so you don’t have to worry – you’ll be notified a few minutes before the party starts and when it’s about to start so you have plenty of time to join in!)
      • If you manage to get the party going, you all get Beacon Energy as a reward!
    • We also added a new Checkers variation to the Big Game Board world event in the Wilderness!
    • We implemented a fix to improve Villager’s detection in photographs so you can complete Nibbit’s photo quest
    • Now, Storm Aftermath messages automatically delete themselves once the reward is claimed

    Customization

    • We have added a basic decoration vending machine in Entry Lands for new players who have not yet been assigned a waystation. This will become available for all players in a future update of the game!
    • ICYMI our Upcoming House Changes blog post earlier this month, we are introducing some changes to decor dyes, wall and flooring options. With the 14.9 update, you won’t be able to use decor dyes on walls and floors anymore. Instead, we’re introducing a brand new (smaller for now) selection of wallpapers & floors.
      • As part of the update, we have moved trim to exist on wallpaper textures rather than on the mesh; so your old walls will no longer have the brown trim mesh along the top and bottom edges
      • We’ll add more flooring and wall options in future updates. We want to learn first how you’re feeling with the current selection before introducing more, higher rarity ones.
      • What about my currently dyed walls and floors? Painted walls and floorings will stay as they are and won’t be reverted to default, and you won’t lose their “old dyes” as long as you don’t paint over those items. It is possible that – as some of those dyes change or get archived in future iterations of the game – they can be reverted to default in the future, but we will let you know in advance!
    • We’re also adding a few of the building kit pieces you suggested! Some more building kit pieces will arrive in future updates of the game, so keep your eyes peeled
    • There are also some new textures to Roomie’sDoor!
      • As some of you already noticed, you can also move Roomie! Now you can spend quality time and take selfies with your Roomie :happyroomie:
    • We also added a brand new Long Wavy Hair hairstyle and a “two-tone” version for the Space Buns and French Braids hairstyles.

    Wilderness

    • We have implemented an improvement to the Bramble Harvest Bonus mechanic: now, the flowering bramble visibly grows with each bramble patch hit. Clear the flowering portion last to earn the harvest bonus!
    • Need help harvesting? Now you can call for others when gathering wood from big stumps or mining ore nodes

    Rainbow Time Bonus updates

    • You can now gain Bonfire charges gradually by spending time at a bonfire, at the end of the storm your charges are converted to Rainbow Time.
    • Just hanging out with others near a bonfire should give you max rainbow time pretty easily, so you shouldn’t need to worry too much about the charge rate; but we’re giving some numbers for those who want the math.
    • Bonfire Charge Rate
      • 0.1 charge / sec per person up to 4 people
        • Min: 1 charge every 10 sec alone
        • Max: 1 charge every 2.5 sec at 4 people
      • Max of 100 charges; at which point you are guaranteed the max duration of the Rainbow Time Status buff after the storm
    • This will not change the cap on Rainbow Time – which is currently 4 minutes

    ART & UI

    • Updated the Recycling Bin art around the world to incorporate elements of the Crosslands!
      • Note: we changed the Village Recycling Bin location, now it’s near Maya instead of near the Trolley.
    • We also updated the daily harvest limit UI
    • Updated some resource and material icon arts

    Known Issues List

Please keep in mind that this is still an Alpha, so many icons, quest objectives, animations, and other art may be temporary or placeholder.

    • Some destinations may appear greyed out in the Travel menu. As a workaround, reopening the menu can make the destination accessible while we’re working to fix the issue.

  • 02Mar

No, you’re not seeing double – we do have a new update this month 😅

With the new 14.8 update, we introduced tons of changes to the frequency of Storms, Rainbow Time Bonus, and how they affect waystations – to address some or the feedback you all provided regarding needing more clarity on how much contribution is needed to maintain a waystation safe from the storm.

Speaking of waystations, we are surveying players about their participation in waystations. Please respond whenever you have the chance – it shouldn’t take more than 8 minutes and it helps us immensely!

Now, let’s get into the patch notes details!

    Storm Updates

With the 14.8 update, we will be introducing some changes to the Wilderness and Waystation Storms.

    Wilderness Storms

    • The Wilderness will now see more frequent storms we’re calling – you guessed it – Wilderness Storms.
    • Unlike waystations, the wilderness doesn’t have any beacons to protect them, so storms happen there more often. There will be around 9 storms a day, each happening with 1 to 2 hours between them.
    • Their duration was not changed: each storm will still last between 5 to 10 minutes. You’ll also receive a warning 3 minutes before each storm hits.
    • Now these Wilderness Storms can also happen during tournaments, since they are a part of the world. Good thing there’s a bonfire near the Pier!

More Storms → More Rainbow Time!

    • Bonfire Sweet Bonfire 🔥 staying close to a Bonfire will not only protect you from the storm, but also grant you Rainbow Time Bonus effect.
      • This effect grants
        • 2.5x climbing speed!
        • 3 Beacon Energy Drops on harvest instead of 1
      • This effect lasts
        • Half of rainbow time if you were alone
        • All of rainbow time if you were in a group
    • After each Wilderness storm, there will be 4 minutes of Rainbow Time
    • Storms will no longer provide any Storm Mushrooms nor refresh harvestables, but they will spawn Beacon Energy Drops in the Wilderness instead (as part of Rainbow Time)
    • During Rainbow Time players can now find Beacon Energy Drops throughout the world that you can harvest one at a time
      • If you have the Rainbow Time status effect active, you will receive 3 Beacon Energy Drops from each harvest instead
      • There is a limit of 60 harvests a day
      • You can trade 100 Beacon Energy Drops for 1 Beacon Energy in your Waystation vending machine
      • Beacon Energy Drops will disappear after Rainbow Time

    What about Waystation Storms?

    • Storms that also hit the Waystations will still exist, and they will still cause storm damage to the waystation and the items placed in them
    • The Rainbow Time duration has been reduced to match the Wilderness Storm duration
    • We have also updated the onboarding quests to reflect those changes

Important note: we are aware that there is not a very obvious differentiation between Waystation and Wilderness storms currently in-game: This is something that we plan to improve in the future!

    Waystation Status & Size Update

    Waystation Capacity Updates

    • We believed that calling it Waystation “Size” or “Rank” didn’t accurately reflect what the progress bar meant – it’s not that waystations will get bigger nor get more players as players contribute more and more to the beacon, it means that members will unlock access to higher building limits and other features. So we changed the name to “Waystation Capacity”.
    • We have also made changes to better reflect the relation between the Storms and Waystation maintenance:
      • Now, Waystation Capacity will only apply gains and losses after a Waystation Storm
      • The “View Waystation” screen also allows players to check pending progress toward the next Capacity level and see the changes that will happen with the next storm.
Currently there is an issue that doesn’t show pending progress in the progress bar ➡️ check #known-issues for more information
      • This means players will have heads up when their Waystation is heading towards drain

    Waystation Status

    • Raise the alarms! Now when players go to give offerings, they will see the current Waystation Status that indicates whether the Beacon is receiving enough Beacon Energy to sustain itself.
    • The status is based on how many daily contributions the Beacon is receiving 🆚 the daily drain of the waystation, proportional to the time in the day

    Current Statuses

The in-game names of status vary with your Waystation’s Capacity since it changes the gravity of each states, but here is a general overview:

Radiant: Your beacon is receiving more than enough contributions and should grow.
⚙️ Sufficient: Contributions are enough to sustain the Beacon but may not lead to growth.
💔 Insufficient: Contributions are not su1rpassing the Beacon’s daily energy requirements
⌛Post-Storm:  This is current status for the remaining hours of the day after the Storm, as well as the first 12 hours of the next day – to allow new contributions to come in

    Storm Results

    • We also show the number of bonfires set up and the total items with storm damage in the Waystation
    • After storms, players will receive a ✉️letter in their inbox that tells them if their waystation’s Capacity level increased, decreased or stayed the same
    • No spam 🛑: you’ll only receive letters if you contributed to the Beacon before the storm
    • This letter will also include a Beacon Spark as a gift for contributing to the Beacon ✨

    Waystation Destruction

    • Waystations will be destroyed by the storm if after a storm, the Waystation reaches Capacity 1;
      • We added statuses to give warnings when under Capacity 5 to help waystation members rally and prevent this.
    • When waystations are taken over by the storm, players will be transferred to new waystations.

    But that’s not all!

    Activities

    • Waystation Mural
      • Following your feedback, we will be testing a longer-term Waystation Mural activity! Mark your calendars: we have a Waystation Mural scheduled for 2/27 that will last 28 days.
Every week a new set of paint colors will be available.
      • We have increased the amount of paint you get in a day from 10 ➡️ 60
These paint changes are also applied to regular 1-day Waystation Murals too.
    • Rudi changes: we have introduced some economy changes to balance the expensive store items on Rudi’s Shop
      • We increased the amount of Rudi coins scenario activities give
        • Previously some scenarios gave much more than others; we increased the value of most activities to come closer to the output of the highest ones
      • We also merge the specific Rudi Resources world event with all of his appearances – now, whenever Rudi shows up, folks can also exchange resources for Rudi Coins
    • We have added new layouts for the Shrineworks Switchboard activity

    Quests

    • We have implemented some fixes for the Facing Fears and Lost Spirits quests:
      • Fixed a bug so the quests are available when Named Spirits are shown, instead of when players migrate to a new waystation.
      • Made the Urns inspectable for clearer signaling on what is and is not discovered.
    • We have added two new quests for Kasu and one additional quest for Amano!

    Art, UI & Sound

    • We have added a few more ambient Spirits, and also given them names!
    • Improved sound layout in the Settings screen
    • We have added new dialog animations for Kasu on level 1 & 2 friendship
    • The bassochord has a new improved sound

    Bug Fixes 🐛

    • Fixed a bug where collections were showing multiple entries because of stats (angst, weight)
    • We also fixed the issue that was causing the fishing rod range to be reduced by a lot – it should now be back to normal!
    • Players won’t be stuck in Villagers homes after completing their corresponding quests. No more awkwardness!
    • Fixed a bug where players couldn’t interact with Signs during Storms
    • Fixed a bug where Lunkers were shown entirely offscreen when caught
    • Fixed a bug where players could get blocked in the Bearly Traversable quest

    💠💠💠💠💠

    14.8 Known Issue List

Please keep in mind that this is still an Alpha, so many icons, quest objectives, animations, and other art may be temporary or placeholder.

    • We are aware that the Waystation Capacity progress bar does not show pending progress between waystation storms

Thank you all, as always, for your continued support! Let us know what you think about the update on our Discord community or our subreddit!

    See you in the Crosslands,
    Spry Fox

  • 11Feb

    Greetings, wanderers!

Spry Fox is turning 16 years old today! 🥳
And we have even more reason to celebrate, with the release of the 14.7 update that brings with it balancing changes to waystation trees, potted plants, passing spirits and more!

Check out the full list of changes and improvements below.

    14.7 Patch Notes

    Waystation Trees Update 🌳

As we published over at Discord and Reddit over the past week, this update introduces some big changes to waystation trees that we’re hoping will improve your overall experience, as well as balance some mechanics around tree resources.

    Tree Saplings

    • Tree Saplings are now craftable! Previously, there was a chance of receiving saplings when harvesting from wild trees, but we changed it so you can craft saplings in the Spirit Cauldron
    • Crafting: To craft them, you will need 50 Tree Gems of the same type (for example: 50 Cherry Pits). Only trees from the current season are available to craft.
    • You can now propose new trees directly from the “Build Proposal” screen, in the Waystation Amenities section
    • You’ll be able to keep the saplings you already own, as well as place them in the waystation normally – you just won’t acquire any more saplings the old way.
    • We also added tag combos, so players will see gem name instead of (fruitGem, season) in crafting interfaces
    • We have renamed the Oak Seed to Acorn Seed to be more consistent with other naming patterns

    Tree Cap

    • We’re adding a tree cap to waystations based on the Rank of the waystation. Currently, the max cap at Level 10 is 50 trees.
    • The cap is visible in the Waystation Storage menu, along with other Waystation resources, or in the top-right corner while placing trees.
    • If your waystation has exceeded the cap, you’ll be able to keep all of your current trees, but you won’t be able to place new ones down.

    Tree Medicine

    • We have simplified treating tree illnesses to a single type of medicine. The higher the tree tier, the more medicine it requires to cure it. With this change, you won’t need to keep checking which tier your tree is to know which medicine to buy, and more players will have opportunities to contribute to keeping trees healthy in waystations.
    • Higher Tier medicine: We’re keeping the Standard Tree Medicine appearance as is, but changed its name to Strong Tree Medicine. You’ll still be able to keep higher tier medicine and use them to cure your trees.
    • We changed the cost of crafting medicine to 1 Fine Paper + 1 Archival Ink
    • You can now also buy tree medicine from the vending machine

Potted Plants Changes and Improvements 🪴

    • We’re turning a new leaf on Potted Plants with 14.7, we are also introducing some needed changes and improvements to plants you can have in your home.
    • All non-flowering potted plants have been removed from Roomie’s store and no longer will have a chance to drop from brambles. If you still have a non-flowering potted plant, it will not be removed, but new ones can no longer be obtained. We will revisit these in a future update.
    • Potted Plant Seeds and Plants now explicitly state the color of pigment the flower will give you
    • DID YOU KNOW? The stripe colors on the Flower Seed icon indicate the pigment color of the flower! Once the flower blooms, the petal colors of the Rare and higher rarities change to match our rarity color conventions, but the center of the flower will still always show the pigment color.
    • Potted Plants UI has been fixed to once again show bars for the Progress and Water levels.
      • Adding water before the bar runs out will refill the water bar, but isn’t required until the plant displays a thirsty marker.
    • All flowers currently require the same amount of time, water, and happiness, although in the future we intend these to become more varied.
    • Fertilizer is no longer craftable, but you can now recycle your extra Plant Seeds and Tree Gems into fertilizer. Roomie will also sell a small quantity each day.

    Wilderness Changes

    • Passing Spirits have been redistributed to make them more convenient to find. They will no longer appear in the Entry Lands; instead, there are a few more in the Village. The same number will appear in the Wilderness. Expect further adjustments to these numbers in future updates based on your feedback!
    • Hork hork – all aboard the Fluffalo Train 🚂 ! In this update, we also introduced some changes to fluffalo train rides, such as co-op harvesting improvements!
      • Now anyone in the fluffalo train can harvest for the whole group! This means that the first person to harvest, harvests the resource for everyone, changing the resource state to harvested. NOTE: If you already harvested the resource, you won’t get it again when it’s harvested by other people in the fluffalo train.
      • Bonuses from your own enhanced tools are now applied to resources harvested on a fluffalo ride – and co-op harvesting applies depletion to your tools as well
      • You can now use lift pads (big fans), jump pads (vertical trampolines), launch pads (horizontal trampolines) and cloud-surf while riding fluffalos
      • ICYMI: Photography now works while riding fluffalos 📸
      • Aaand… you can also throw items, such as Blot Bells, Water Balloons and Fluffalo Treats while riding fluffalos
    • The Shrineworks Switchboard activity now has 2 new layouts!
    • Longer Rainbow Time Bonus: stay by the Bonfire before the Storm ends to get a Rainbow Time bonus of 15 minutes, or gather a group of friends to get an even longer (30 minutes!) bonus!

We are on our own quest to make sure you literally never run out of hairstyle options.

    Waystation & Home Changes

    • Roomie’s temporary fixation on Decor Score Quests has been satiated… for now. Roomie thanks you for your assistance and will not be asking for higher Decor Score goals for the time being.
    • Waystation Unique Names: waystation names will now have a 3 number suffix (for example, #123) to reduce confusion in-game and here on Discord
    • Due to the issue that caused players to accidentally move waystations within the same Village when accepting a Friend Invite, switching waystations will only be possible by talking to Eudora
      • To prevent exploiting and accidental waystation moves, we also tweaked the cooldown to change waystations using friend codes to 30 days. You will still be able to move by following Eudora’s flow as long as you still have friends in the target waystation, this has a cooldown of 1 day.

    New Customization Options

    • We have added 3 new Head Shapes and 4 new Hairstyles
    • The new City Decor Set was added to the furniture shop rotation! 🏙️

    Quality of Life Improvements

    • We have disabled interaction prompts when throwing projectiles are equipped
    • Revamped Settings Menu

A MUCH more thematic redesigned set of Chess Pieces! Aww, look at their little faces..

    Art Changes and Improvements

    • We completely redesigned the Chess Board and Chess Pieces to incorporate elements of the Crosslands!
    • Updated the art for the Wilderness traversables (jump pad, lift pad and launch pads)
    • Added more of the missing animations in quest conversations with Villagers!
    • Joule’s Workshop needed a little bit more fresh air and now has new windows!
    • We did a few tweaks in various existing decor dyes
    • We also recolored Ore Meshes to add clarity in what resources they provide:
      • Tier 1 Ore nodes are now darker grey to indicate Iron, Tier 2 nodes are now lighter grey with Bronze flecks, and Tier 3 now have Silver flecks
    • We also updated the art on some interactable Quest targets that were using placeholder leaf piles.

    Bug Fixes:

    • We fixed the bug that allowed players to see Strangers’ names by tapping their icon on the map
    • 📲 We applied a fix for the missing text on local notifications
    • We also fixed a bug where the “Ready to level up” VFX was HUGE on potted plants 🌱
    • It should no longer be possible to accidentally delete your home crafting table
    • Change away: it should now be possible to scroll all the way down in the Customization Mirror Menu to change your character’s appearance 🪞
    • Architect selection is now better! We addressed some of the issues that caused architects to never step down from the role by the end of their term, and new architects should now be selected. Additional fixes will be included in the next update.
    • The What’s New and other similar menus should allow players to scroll normally as well
    • Rugs were fixed and now should contribute normally to Tree Happiness!

We may have toned down the huge VFX, but it will live on in our memory. Credit: emiyay on Discord

    14.7 Known Issues List

Please keep in mind that this is still an Alpha, so many icons, quest objectives, animations, and other art may be temporary or placeholder.

    • When you block someone, their chat messages don’t disappear until the next time you open the chat window.

Thank you for being here and supporting us!

You can play now in open Alpha on mobile via Google Play (Android) and Testflight (iOs),
OR you can wishlist Spirit Crossing on Steam!

    Hello wanderers!

We hope you all had a lovely holiday season and a happy new year.

We’re jumping right into 2026 with the 14.6 update for Spirit Crossing!

    And speaking of gifts..

    14.6 Patch Notes

    • The Gift of Giving 🎁: You can now gift presents to the villagers!

      • You can gift no more than one gift to a villager per day
      • Gift crafting recipes will be automatically added to nearby crafting spots
    • Sprite’d away: Sprites were renamed and are now called Blots!
      • We changed the name to make it easier to differentiate Sprites from Spirits, which was causing some initial confusion for new players.
      • Sprite Charms were also renamed to Blot Bells!
      • We added new rarities and new movement types to make catching Blots more dynamic! Keep an eye out and don’t miss the catch on some Mystery Blots, Bouncing Blots and Roaming Blots!

    • And speaking of tournaments… We didn’t forget about you fishing fans! 🎣

    Hello wanderers!

With the arrival of 14.5, we have a brand new round of patch notes for you to read.

If something in particular brings you joy from this update, we always enjoy reading your feedback in the Discord!

Now let’s get to the fun stuff. ✨

Ahh, the joy of creative expression and the smell of acrylic paint.

    14.5 Patch Notes

    • A fresh start: we did a complete revamp in the game’s introduction to improve the first experience with the game, add some requested tutorials, and allow players to immerse themselves in this world we’ve created more quickly.
    • Introducing the new Invitation feature!
      • There’s no need to wait to play with friends: now, through Invitations, you and your friends will be automatically assigned to the same village and waystation whenever possible, making it easier to play together.
      • Visit the Friends List to generate an Invite Code.
      • Invite Codes can be redeemed on the Main Menu.
      • Since you already know each other, there’s no need to spend your precious friendship gems and time: you’ll be automatically leveled up a few Friendship levels with them
    • Waystation Changes
      • Waystation Bulletin Board – you’ve been asking for it, and here it is! The Bulletin Board is a new way to communicate with your fellow waystation members asynchronously, to help you all coordinate buildings, plan parties, events and much more!
      • Speaking (ha!) of new methods of communication, we’re also introducing Signposts with Comments in both the waystations and wilderness
      • Fire away: similarly to how bonfires protect players from the storm effects, you can now place bonfires in your Waystation to protect your buildings and decor!
        • You can also now see an object’s Storm Resistance when you inspect it.
        • Happier Crafting Stations craft more storm resistant objects.
      • A brand new look: we’ve updated the Waystation layout based on previous feedback and suggestions!
        • Players can now modify most of the starting buildings in their Waysation to make it truly their own.
        • The Waystation Beacon has also gotten a fresh look, and includes Maya and Eudora’s areas.
      • A brand new Wilderness map has been added to the pool!
    • Season Turnover
      • In addition to Greens, Fruit, Nuts, and Wood, other resources will vary each season! With the beginning of Winter coming soon, look around for the new seasonal Paper, Ink, Mushroom Drops, Chopped Tubers, Wool, and Pigment Bases to fill your collection (Candlewic and his money bags have been waiting for this!)

    Economy Balancing 💰

We have gone through a few adjustments in the economy, including:

    • Activities and quests rewards were updated and now have better payouts
    • Updated clothing prices – more common items cost less, but legendary items, as the name suggests, will appear less often and cost more than common items, and the new prices will also reflect their rarity.
    • Changes in resources used for crafting and their quantities
    • ICYMI: pots and caches in the Wilderness have better coin rewards and can help you save some coins for that item you’ve been wanting!
    • Rudi is now acting more like his anti-capitalist self and is charging fair prices in his shop. Don’t forget to show off your eco-friendly looks in #show-off-fashion!
    • Rudi’s activities are also paying you more fairly for your efforts.

    • Moderation System for Items: Liking / Flagging
      • In addition to flagging items players may consider disruptive, you can now like structures, decors and buildings others placed as a way to thank them for their creations!
      • We’ve also lowered the thresholds required for flagged items to be removed
    • New Decor
      • Witchy Decor Set – for those wanting a bit more ✨magic ✨ in their decor
      • Talavera Decor Set – bring more colors and ornaments to your home or waystation
      • Island Decor Set – enjoy the beachy vibes and feel the warmth with this new set!
      • Abandoned Decor Set – salvaged from waystations long destroyed by storms, this decor set screams post-apocalypse chic!
    • New Clothing: Strawberry Clothing Set, Animal Ears & Horns and Spirit Trolley Clothing Set
    • We’ve temporarily removed room upgrades from Kit’s Catalog, these will be added back soon in future release.

    World Events Improvements  🎪

    • New World Event: Freeform Mural
      • The future is a blank canvas! Pascale is now visiting your waystations and bringing with him a completely customizable mural. Collaborate with other members of your waystation to create your very own original piece. Teamwork makes the dream work! Don’t forget to share your creations with us in the screenshots section of the Discord.
    • New World Event: Fishing Tournament
      • Time to show off your co-op fishing skills! Try to catch the biggest fish and make your way to the top of the leaderboard for a reward!
    • New World Event: Shrineworks Switchboard
      • Gather a few friends and head to the switchboard to progress through waves of activating Shrineworks buttons before time runs out!

    Quality of Life Improvements 🛠️

    • Crafting Improvements
      • In a rush? We are removing the time required to craft furniture and structures in the Waystation’s crafting tables, so all crafting will be instant now!
      • Walking on sunshine: make your crafting stations happier in order to craft more Storm Resistant objects!
      • Added Joule and Amano specific crafting tables, replacing the generic shared ones in their setpieces. Updated all quests to use one or the other.
    • We now have new + polished jumping and climbing animations!
    • Added ring border and pulse animation to the harvesting timer ring for better visibility

    Bug Fixes 🛠️

    • We fixed a bug that was causing the storm damage to be more intense than intended, requiring more resources to repair items in Waystations than to craft them
    • Fixed a UI issue where paints/dyes weren’t being correctly previewed in Build Mode
    • Fixed a UI issue where the progress bar for overgrowth removal was moving backwards
    • Fishing tournament splash art has been added
    • Fixed an issue where unsheared fluffalo were returning to the sky with the appearance of being sheared
    • Fixed the Storm’s rainbow time applying to players who were not currently near a bonfire when a storm ends
    • Fixed yoga mat height so that it does not Z-fight when placed on rugs
    • Disabled “Enter Build Mode” interaction while part of a fluffalo train
    • Fixed an issue when players with full inventories would receive no items when using coins at dispensers
    • Hopeful fix for fluffalo pathing issues, making them less likely to land inside the level geometry
    • Increased the rendering distance of fluffalos so they are more easily seen from a distance
    • Fixed an issue that allowed players to Mute themselves
    • Co-op timer fixes:
      • Fixed issue that showed co-op timers when no one was participating
      • Fixed issue where timer would get hidden if you attempted, failed, then attempted again quickly after
      • Fixed timer showing 1/0 as it fades away
      • Fixed issue where harvestables would repeat if player joined in near the end of the timer for someone else

    14.5 Known Issues List

    • Sometimes a crash occurs on iOS when typing a multi-line response on a sign or bulletin board, deleting it, then trying to type again
    • Red “Poor connection” text followed by a disconnect appears when players lock/unlock their screen
    • Some tutorializers pop up at weird times or overlap other things
    • Some collectables, such as Flowers and Sprites, are not showing their colors based on rarity
    • Sometimes the jump button is oversized in the UI
    • Roomie’s Decor Score UI is showing the current decor score as the progress to the next score
    • “Boba Emergency” quest is missing the icon asset for the quest item
    • Rugs don’t count towards decor quests or happiness
    • Accepting Reward from Mail Box does not allow Delete button to become interactable

We would love to hear your thoughts about the new changes that came with 14.5 in the feedback channel of our Discord!

Thanks kindly, and we’ll see you in the Crosslands.

    Greetings, wanderers!

14.4 goes live this week, which means we have a round of patch notes for the occasion.

As always, we love to hear what you think! Let us know your feedback in the Discord.

What’s that lurking in the wat- err, the clouds?

    New Content

    • New Storm mechanics ⛈️
      • Weather the storm: Stay close to a bonfire to remove the negative effects of the storm (and to keep a little bit warmer too)
      • After the storm, comes the calm: Rainbow Time 🌈
      • Rainbow Time starts after the storm ends: players who are online when it starts get neat bonuses such as max stamina and climbing speed boosts
      • Staying near a bonfire during the storm applies Rainbow Time bonus player status
      • Who said there isn’t gold at the end of a rainbow? Resources such as Mushrooms and Ore also get restocked during Rainbow Time, including some rarer variations!
      • Rainbow Time rare loots last for 30 minutes
    • Lunkers
      • What’s that, lurking in the water (or, well, in the clouds)? Be on the lookout for some big and rare catches with the new co-op fishing!
    • More quests, more friendship!
      • More additions to villager quests
      • Additional Friendship Quests for Maya
      • Maya’s Friendship Quests will no longer appear until you are much closer to reaching the needed friendship level with the appropriate villager
    • We’re completely reworking the potted plants and flowers, and that deserves its own write up! Check out more details on that here.
    • New clothing patterns added to the shop!
    • Proximity chat is now unlocked at Level 3 Friendship, instead of Level 2. This change is part of our plans to prepare for larger releases, and also to strengthen our overall communication schemes
      • Strangers can still communicate with each other by sitting on a bench, joining a fluffalo train or by using Expressions
    • Friends List has gotten a total facelift

     World Events Improvements

    • Keep an eye out in the Wilderness to catch some of the changes and improvements we did to world events 👀
    • Mural Event changes
      • New Mural variations added!
      • We also made some changes to slow down the pacing for the Mural completion to make sure more players have a chance to participate
      • Good news for art collectors: after completing a Mural, it becomes available for purchase from Pascale as a Postcard, Poster, and Framed Painting!
    • New Event: Big Game Board
      • You read that right: it’s a big chess board, in the Wilderness, for you to play however you’d like while enjoying the fresh air and cool views of nature! Play a serious match with friends, or create your own rules! We would love to know what you think – and if you want to see more board games in the future.
    • New Event: Yearning for the Mines
      • Dig through rubble with the help of a few friends to uncover Common, Rare, or Legendary loot blocks! ⛏️
    • New Event: Speedy Spirit Delivery
      • It’s a race against the clock as you hop aboard a fluffalo, traverse through the Wilderness, and try to deliver hot food to the Hungry Spirit before the time runs out.

     Quality of Life Improvements

    • Removed the ability to place bumpers in the Wilderness. No more bumping around!
    • Speaking of the Wilderness… Amano has installed a basic crafting station at his camp, which you can also use for your crafting convenience.
    • We also added the ability to “flag” disruptive buildings in both the waystations and Wilderness. If enough people agree that the object is problematic, it will be removed (in the Wilderness) or stashed in storage (in waystations).
    • The recipe limit in the home crafting stations has increased from 100 ➡️ 200!
    • Grab Roomie and get ready for a redecor frenzy: groups of items and structures on top of each other can now be moved all at once!
    • Time to shuffle: you no longer need to play specific songs for specific actions, such as leveling up your plants. Look out for song tags and use whatever tune resonates best with you!
    • Friendship reward banners have been added, giving a little extra fanfare whenever you level up with another player!
    • The Wilderness fishing clouds have been lowered slightly to provide an easier angle for casting your line from Hardtack’s dock

    Bug Fixes

    • Fixed a bug where the waystation terrain would pulse white when an overgrowth was ready to be harvested
    • Fixed an issue that made the UI disappear when joining someone else playing Arboreal Aria for trees in the waystation
    • Fixed an issue that required a WiFi connection to be able to play the game, now players should be able to connect using their mobile data
    • Taking cover: covered areas such as the main building in the waystations will now count as such
    • The Storm damage VFX is now showing up as intended – and with brand new visuals!
    • No more spam: Eudora won’t fill players’ inboxes with messages about their end of term as Architects
    • Addressed some issues with inventory versus storage when adding and removing items
    • Fixed a bug where Sprites would be invisible of another player charmed them
    • Fixed a bug where decor dye wouldn’t be usable if the Build Mode placement limit was maxed out
    • Removed the Expressions button announcement bubble (you all know where the expressions are now!) 😉
    • Increased the size of the throwing reticle
    • Fixed a bug that was not keeping pinned recipes pinned when traveling between areas
    • Raging critters are now always visible while being charmed regardless of if you have already harvested them
    • Fix for players sometimes seeing an empty co-op timer progress bar
    • Fixed the pixelated clouds in the Travel menu on some devices (please let us know if you still see it!)

    Known Issues

Please keep in mind that this is still an Alpha, so many icons, quest objectives, animations, and other art may be temporary or placeholder.

    • While typing in chat close to a Level 1 – 2 friend, players may see the following message: “Strangers cannot hear you. Meet the Stranger or sit in public seating to talk”. Instead, it should say “Unlock Proximity chat or sit in public seating to talk”. This will be adjusted in a future update.
    • We are aware of a bug that only allows players to add 199 recipes to their home crafting stations, instead of the intended 200. This will be fixed in a future game update.

    Thanks kindly,
    Spry Fox

  • 12Sep

We want to chat a bit more about the details behind one of the changes you’ll encounter in Spirit Crossing’s 14.4 update.

Specifically, we’re introducing a refactor of the entire potted plants & flowers system for 14.4. This refactor will impact how you view information about your plants as well as interact with them.

We’re particularly excited about this because we believe it will make interacting with plants much more accessible long-term. Please feel free to give us your thoughts in the Discord!

Here’s a summary of the changes we implemented:

    • UI will now provide a much clearer visual of your plant’s current status (e.g. progression and how much water is remaining)
    • You can now water your plant at any time (but the requirement will only show when no water is remaining in the plant, as indicated by the above UI addition)
    • Music is no longer attached to plant happiness, but instead is used for plant progression
    • Pots and plants are now individual concepts leveraged via build mode, for example:
      • Build mode now supports the plant & seed moving alongside the pot
      • Pots can be stacked on top of one another
      • Plant repotting is simplified – simply move them from one pot to another
    • Plants can now be “destroyed” (we prefer “mulched”) directly!
    • As we refactored the potted plants, we also fixed some errors that caused potted plant yields to be much higher than intended. As a result, we are also making some balancing changes to the game’s economy, meaning that activities other than gardening will have a more relevant role to play. While potted plants, which were always intended to be purely decorative, will no longer be a steady source of funds for players.

This was a big undertaking from a number of members on the team and we’re immensely excited for its long-term impact on plant interactions. We believe this should help simplify mechanics surrounding potted plants & flowers moving forward as well as make their caretaking much more accessible.

In order to implement this refactored system, we’ll unfortunately need to say goodbye to all of our current potted plants and seeds for the 14.4 update.

We understand this may be disappointing, but our goal is for the long-term benefits to make the short-term upheaval feel worthwhile.

We appreciate your understanding and will be glad to hear your feedback about how the new system feels over the coming weeks!

    Thanks kindly,
    Spry Fox
